Prostaglandins are lipid hormones acquired from arachdinoic acid. They are created at the site of an injury and aid in the healing process in several different ways including triggering inflammation at the site of injury, forming a blood clot if needed and also causing constriction or dilation in the surrounding smooth muscle cells.[1]

Clinical uses of Prostaglandins

<u</u>-Induces labor

-Induces termination of a pregnancy

-Used in treatment of peptic ulcers[2]
