TATA promoter
From The School of Biomedical Sciences Wiki
The TATA box is a common DNA transcription promoter found in eukaryotic genes. It has a consensus sequence of TATAAA[1]. The promoter is found upstream of the start codon (methionine AUG) and is usually paired with aninitiator for efficient gene transcription. The TATA box's importance stems from its recognition by the TATA box binding protein region of TFIID one of the central componenets of the transcription initiaion complex with RNA polymerase II and many other proteins[2].
