Scope of business

A significant proportion of Geode’s company assets are tied up in its real estate. As Geode expands and changes, it is constantly acquiring and selling property and facilities nationally and internationally. It is the job of our real estate and property team to manage our portfolio of properties, ensuring Geode has the facilities it needs to operate, that they are maintained to a high standard and that best value is achieved.

Scope of role

Assistant real estate portfolio managers are responsible for the implementation of Geode’s strategic facilities plan, the acquisition and disposition of real estate and facilities, facilities maintenance and construction and short-/long-term space planning. They also help to establish and manage the real estate and property team’s business plan, which translates Geode’s mission and objectives into real estate and facilities service requirements. Finally, assistant real estate portfolio managers oversee the work of Geode’s facilities servicing and maintenance workers.

Responsibilities / Activities

  • Manage the acquisition of new leased and owned properties and facilities for Geode.
  • Ensure that the current properties and facilities that Geode owns and leases are well maintained and comply with all current building regulations.
  • Ensure that future acquisitions or improvements obtain the correct planning permissions.
  • Justify the acquisition and disposal of buildings by tying them to Geode’s current and future business objectives.
  • Interact with the real estate industry to understand the impact of market trends on Geode’s property assets.
  • Ensure consistent application of and compliance with all real estate standard processes.

Skills required

  • To have attained, or be likely to attain, at least a 2.i (upper second class) degree in a relevant discipline.
  • MSc in Real Estate Management, MSc in Real Estate and Property Management or similar preferred (or a willingness to work towards one of these qualifications on appointment as part of our 3-year Graduate Training Programme).
  • Work experience in relevant field preferred.
  • Candidates should be effective communicators both in report writing and orally.
  • Articulate with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships.
  • Well organised and able to manage time effectively.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team (acting as its leader when required).
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Pay for this entry-level graduate position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
