Scope of business

The Geode Corporate Trust strives to give something back to the communities and areas where we work and is involved in a variety of different environmental, development and community projects that require volunteers. The Charitable Trust’s work ranges from small-scale clean-up projects within local communities to our large-scale water security project in Kenya. We are keen to recruit as many volunteers as possible to help us achieve success with these projects and subscribe to the principles of good volunteering as set out by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).

Scope of role

As a volunteers’ coordinator, you will help to recruit, organise and support the work of volunteers on our various projects. You will oversee the training needs of our volunteers as well as liaise closely with the organisations involved to ensure that projects are running successfully. Volunteers’ coordinators are also often involved in co-ordinating publicity campaigns to attract new volunteers and to find new projects which Geode’s Charitable Trust may be able to support.

Responsibilities / Activities

  • Recruiting, selecting and training volunteers.
  • Supervising, supporting and motivating volunteers.
  • Managing and designing projects.
  • Developing partnerships with local organisations.
  • Publicising and promoting the work of the Geode Corporate Trust in order to attract volunteers and increase the number of volunteering opportunities available.
  • Designing publicity materials.
  • Report writing.
  • Managing budgets and resources.
  • Maintaining databases and other administrative duties.
  • Undertaking outreach work within external organisations to promote projects and share information.

Skills required

  • To have attained, or be likely to attain, at least a 2.i (upper second class) degree in any discipline.
  • Must have experience of working in the voluntary sector.
  • Experience of supporting adults in a workplace environment preferred.
  • Must be willing to undertake and pass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Must have an outgoing personality and be of a personable nature.
  • Excellent communicator both in report writing and in oral presentations.
  • Articulate with negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Must have a passion for the environment and development.
  • Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Well organised and able to manage time effectively.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team (acting as its leader when required).
  • Applicants must have a first aid qualification or be willing to undergo first aid training.

Pay for this entry-level graduate position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
