Scope of business
Our IT department implements and supports the complete range of IT systems used by Geode worldwide. We also work closely with our clients to provide IT systems ranging from those used to explore for oil and gas through to those used to process sales.
Scope of role
This role primarily involves assisting with the smooth running and development of the day-to-day IT systems used by Geode’s staff (typically working in our IT support and repair team). The role is based in London with occasional travel to other Geode sites.
Responsibilities / Activities
- Service delivery: being part of a group responsible for providing and maintaining IT services to Geode staff.
- Application development and support: being part of a team that develops and supports applications used by Geode’s business functions.
- Infrastructure development and support: developing and supporting the infrastructure used throughout the organisation.
- Project management: leading projects that deliver new applications and technologies to the business using world-class practices and processes.
- Regular evaluation of existing IT services, to ensure Geode is operating at its maximum potential.
Skills required
- To have attained, or be likely to attain, at least a 2.i (upper second class) degree in a relevant discipline.
- MSc in Business Technologies or MSc in Computer Science preferred (or a willingness to work towards one of these qualifications on appointment as part of our 3-year Graduate Training Programme).
- Work experience in relevant field preferred.
- Skilled and experienced in the use of Microsoft Office and GIS systems, such as ArcView.
- Ability to research, analyse and evaluate complex issues for internal management consumption.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent communicator both in report writing and in oral presentations.
- Ability to build and develop internal and external relationships.
- Well organised and able to manage time effectively.
- Experience in managing multiple projects preferred.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team (acting as its leader when required).
