Geode is a multinational corporation with clients around the globe. Public relations officers use all forms of media and communication to build and maintain the reputation of Geode and our clients.
Scope of role
Geode’s public relations officers use all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the reputation of Geode as a commercial brand. They communicate key messages, often using third-party endorsements, to defined target audiences in order to establish and maintain goodwill and understanding between Geode and the public. PR officers also monitor publicity and conduct research to find out the concerns and expectations of Geode’s stakeholders. They then report and explain the findings to management.
Responsibilities / Activities
- Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies.
- Liaising with colleagues and key spokespeople.
- Liaising with, and answering enquiries from, the media, individuals and other organisations.
- Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted audiences.
- Collating and analysing media coverage.
- Writing and editing in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports.
- Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes.
- Devising and coordinating photo opportunities.
- Working with colleagues in other departments to organise events (including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours).
- Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities.
- Commissioning market research.
Skills required
- To have attained, or be likely to attain, at least a 2.i (upper second class) degree in a relevant discipline.
- Successful completion of a Chartered Institute of Public Relations accredited MA in Public Relations preferred (or a willingness to work towards one of these qualifications on appointment as part of our 3-year Graduate Training Programme).
- Chartered Institute of Public Relations ‘associate’ membership status preferred (or a willingness to work towards this on appointment as part of our 3-year Graduate Training Programme).
- Work experience in relevant field preferred.
- Candidates should be effective communicators both in report writing and in oral presentations.
- Be able to research, analyse and evaluate complex issues for internal management consumption.
- Be able to work well in teams and be able to use individual initiative, as contact with the rest of the team will be intermittent.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the self-confidence to advise managers on a range of issues.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office is preferred.
- The ability to build and develop internal and external relationships is very important.
- Be well organised and able to manage their time effectively.
Pay for this entry-level graduate position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
