From the primary amino acid sequence of a protein we have been able to:
- find the presence of some possible domains
- examine the domains for function
- form a hypothesis for the function of the protein (which we could then test experimentally)
- discover possible 3D structures for regions of the protein and therefore build a possible model
- find the original paper describing a domain structure and function
