A Uniporter is a [[Carrier proteins|carrier protein that]] transports a single solute molecule in one direction across a [[Plasma membrane|plasma membrane]]. This is&nbsp;transported via&nbsp;[[Facilitated diffusion|Facilitated Diffusion which]] therefore means no energy input is required and that it relies solely on the [[Diffusion|diffusion]] gradient established either side of the membrane. As this is a [[Carrier proteins|carrier protein]], it also exhibits specificity and so can only&nbsp;transport one type of solute across the membrane. An example of a Uniporter&nbsp;are the [[Glucose|glucose]] transporters ( or GLUT) which&nbsp;are used to control the levels of [[Glucose|glucose]] in the [[Blood|blood]]. <ref>Hardin, J. Bertoni, G.
