A dipeptide is formed when two Amino acids join together by one Peptide bond.This happens via a Condensation Reaction.
The bond between the two amino acids forms between the carboxyl group on one and the amino group on another, therefore producing a water molecule as a product[1]. The 'OH' on the carboxyl group on one amino acid is removed and bonds to the removed 'H' on the amino group of the other amino acid to form the molecule of water and the two amino acids join together by a peptide link, which is essentially a C-N bond[2].
The main function of the dipeptide is to maintain pH of cells or to act as antioxidants[3].
