Plasma is an aqueous solution of a number of different organic solutes, and is one of the basic components of blood.
Composition:
In addition to water, plasma contains plasma proteins, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, HCO3-, H2PO4-/HPO42- and glucose[1]. The proteins include albumin and fibrinogen[2], along with numerous other clotting factors.
The composition of plasma is very similar to that of interstitial fluid, except that interstitial fluid contains no plasma proteins.
