A bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) is larger than a regular plasmid. They are often used in PCR (Polymer Chain Reaction) as they can take up larger inserts than a regular plasmid. DNA fragments of around 100-200kb can be inserted into a BAC. A BAC is similar to an F' Plasmid.
