 Cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR) is a membrane protein that is responsible for the body's ionic regulation. This protein is controlled by the CFTR gene and if it becomes faulty cycstic fibrosis may develop, which would disrupt the body's exocrine glands.
