DNA replication is initiated from fixed origins which includes repeated sequences. [1] For initiation of replication, two things are essential:

  • A Nucleotide sequence that binds to initiation proteins.
  • Generation of a primer which can be extended with the help of DNA polymerase by adding nucleotides.
