DCTP
DCTP (deoxycytidine 5' triphosphate) is one of four DNTPs required for DNA synthesis, along with DATP, DTTP and DGTP. DCTP has pyrimidine base bound, this means that the base has a single ring structure like that of DTTP. Furthermore DCTP is an essential component of PCR and DNA repliacation in many living organism: during which the two outer phosphate groups are cleaved and the remaining phosphate group forms a phosphodiester bond with the deoxyribose sugar on the adjacent nucleotide to form the sugar-phosphate backbone[1][2].
