Pronounced alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase this is a complex formed from three kinds of enzymes found in the citric acid cycle (CAC).
It catalyses the oxidative decarboxylation of alpha-ketoglutarate to succinyl CoA [1].

The reaction is as follows:
alpha-Ketoglutarate + NAD + CoA -----► Succinyl CoA + CO2 + NADH
