Blood glucose level is the amount of sugar (Glucose) in an individuals' blood stream at any given time. [1] Blood glucose levels can be measured using an appropriate test strip, a blood glucose meter and a small needle to prick the patients finger with.[2]

The normal range for a healthy patient without diabetes is between 4-8 mmol/L however the values for a diabetic patient will fluctuate more due to the problems with their insulin.[3]
