 ssDNA also known as single stranded DNA is a single strand of DNA where the nucleotides of the sequence have not been base paired and have therefore not formed their respective hydrogen bonds.

ssDNA can arise from the first stage of PCR where dsDNA is heated to denature it thus breaking the hydrogen bonds.
