Mitochondrial matrix

Matrix is the material inside the double membranes of the mitochondria in eukaryotic cells. Compared with the cytoplasm it contains less water. Moreover, matrix is the place where citric acid cycle and Krebs cycle happens which plays an important roll in producing energy.
