Refers to the cells produced during mitosis and meiosis.

Daughter cells produced during mitosis result from the division of a single parent cell. Two are produced, they are diploid with identical chromosomes to both the parent cell and each other[1].

Daughter cells produced during meiosis are haploid, i.e. they have half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell. These cells are not identical to each other[2].
