Somatic cells

The term 'somatic cell' is a generic name given to body cells with a full set of genetics, thus excluding germ (reproductive) cells.  These are sperm cells and the ovum and are also known as gametes.  These cells are haploid, whereas somatic cells are diploid.  

Somatic cells divide by Mitosis.
