RNA Polymerase II
RNA polymerase II is one type of RNA polymerase that synthesise RNA in eukaryotic cells. RNA polymerase II is located in the nucleoplasm and synthesises mRNA precursors along with several small RNA molecules including those of the splicing apparatus and many small regulatory RNA precursors. Similarly to prokaryotic promoters, the promoters of RNA polymerase II include a set of consensus sequences that represent the start site and employ the polymerase. The set of sequences representing the start site can contain any combination of a number of consensus sequences. Disimilarly to prokaryotes, they also include enhancer elements more than 1 kb from the start site[1][2].
