Acetaldehyde

Acetaldehyde is an organic compound which is soluble in water. Its systematic name is ethanal and has the formula CH₃CHO.

Acetaldhyde is the product of alcohol metabolism of ethanol.

Ethanol is broken down by alcohol dehydrogenase to ethanal (acetaldhyde) in the liver. This product is more toxic than ethanol ^[1].
