Alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase (AMACR)

Alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase (AMACR) is an Enzyme which regulates the Metabolism of branched chain lipids which are essential in the human diet and are found in many drugs like ibroprofen. AMACR catalyses the Chiral inversion of many 2-methyl acids, and regulates the entry of branched-chain lipids into the peroxisomal and mitochondrial beta-oxidation pathways. [1]
