Guanylyl cyclase is an enzyme which is activated in cells by binding reversibly with nitric oxide (NO) and produces cyclic GMP from GTP.
This molecule has multiple functions, as it is able to act both as an intracellular receptor of nitric oxide and also as an intracellular signalling protein. [1]
