Petri dish

A petri dish is a small plastic or glass cylindrical container, used in the field of Biology, Chemistry and Medicine. Scientists use it to cultivate animal, bacterial or fungal cells in order to study them. It also has a lid, which prevents from contamination of the colony growing on the dish.
