'CoA' is an abbreviation of Coenzyme A, a Coenzyme required for respiration, specifically in the oxidation of pyruvate.

CoA is a thiol, meaning it can form thioesters via reactions with carboxylic acids. This property means CoA is an acyl group carrier, allowing it to form acetyl CoA in the glycolysis stage of respiration, which is then used in the Kreb's Cycle.
