TFIIB is one of the eukaryotic general transcription factors (the rest of them being TFIIA, TFIID, TFIIE, TFIIF, TFIIH). It helps RNA polymerase II to bind to the promoter and promoter clearence.  TFIIB has a characteristic zinc finger (DNA binding domain) at the N-terminus. It also binds to the TBP (Tata box binding protein) stabilising it to the DNA strand containing the TATA element
