Coeliac Disease
Coeliac Disease is an autoimmune disorder which tends to affect the small intestine and the villi. Coeliac disease isn't an intolerance to gluten, instead the immune system attacks substances within the gluten as it mistakes the substances as a threat. The attacks on gluten causes damage to the surface of the small intestine making the absorbing of nutrients less effective. Symptoms can include bloating, diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
