Heme

Heme is an iron (Fe²⁺ in this case) containing co-factor which is associated haemoglobin. Within haemoglobin it's role is to bind one oxygen molecule, haemoglobin contains 4 heme groups and os is able to carry 4 oxygen molecules at a time.
