FADH2 (reduced FAD) is the shorthand for reduced flavin adenine dinucleotide [1]. Produced by the reduction of FAD during the Citric acid cycle, it is an electron carrier and is required for many oxioreductases to function [2]. An example of where FAD is reduced is when succinate is converted to fumarate during the citric acid cycle.
